Designing a desktop website optimized for mobile, as well as a complete brand redesign, and electronic press kit (EPK).
Client: The Howl Twins
Project Date: 2021
My Role: UX/UI Design. Graphic Design. Facebook metrics research. Sitemaps. User Flows. Wireframing. Prototyping. Wix build. User research. Copywriting.
About This Project: The Howl Twins are a heavy metal band based in St. Louis, Missouri. They were in need of an immediate redesign of their branding as well as an updated website and an EPK to help them better reach their fans as well as provide credibility for achieving bookings. This meant they needed a new design system, website design and build, as well as accurate insight into what their users needs are.
The Challenge: With an outdated website and a mix of logos and colors being used, I was tasked with:
1. Creating a brand that embodied The Howl Twins.
2. A fully functional website that balanced meeting both the users' and the band's needs.
3. An EPK that could be used by promoters and booking agents to advertise the band and give them a quick overview of their brand.
Solution
My first task in this project was to create a logo that embodied The Howl Twins and their music. The band members; Alex and Chris Bridwell, are real life twins so I wanted to incorporate that into my logo design for them. I had Alex and Chris send me photos of band logos and items that they liked to create a mood board for me to base my logo designs and their brand off of. After hundreds of iterations first sketched on paper and then vectorized in Adobe Illustrator, I finally had a logo finalized that both Alex and Chris really liked.
EPK
I then used the brand guidelines to guide my creation of The Howl Twins' electronic press kit.
Website Design
Once the UI and visual design elements were completed I moved on to researching The Howl Twins using their Facebook page metrics to determine their target audience. This research stage of the project also involved user interviews both in-person and virtual using the old website. I also completed a customer journey map as well as a sitemap, lo-fi and hi-fi wireframes, and mockups.
Finally, using the research I had compiled from user interviews and after receiving feedback from The Howl Twins on the deliverables I built their new website using the Wix editor.
